Meet Dr. Chandi

Dr. Chandi Edmonds, PT, MPT, DPT, PCS

Dr. Chandi is a licensed physical therapist who is also a Board-Certified Pediatric Specialist with 18 years of experience. She has provided quality care to pediatric and adult clients in a variety of settings in Chicago and Los Angeles, including Stroger Hospital of Cook County, Advocate Children’s Hospital, LaRabida Children’s Hospital, and Cedar Sinai Medical Center. Her experience working with infants and young children include time in Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units, home based Early Intervention programs, and schools systems. She is a certified  instructor in Prenatal/Postnatal Fitness and Mat Pilates and has a background/training in Yoga and Pilates for kids with and without special needs, and childhood sports injury prevention.

 

Dr. Chandi earned both her Masters and Doctorate degrees in Physical Therapy from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and completed her Bachelor’s of Science degree at Spelman College. She was also Assistant Professor and Director of Clinical Education at Northwestern University Department of Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences and Adjunct Clinical Faculty at University of Southern California Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy. She most recently joined Erikson Institute as an adjunct faculty member summer 2018 teaching Physical Growth and Child Development.    

 

The health of the community has been a passion of Dr. Chandi since she was a graduate student and is excited to be able to pursue this passion full time.

Kaylee Goss

Kaylee Goss is a Children’s Yoga and Movement Instructor and a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher (200-RYT) with Alpha Kids Shine. Kaylee has a passion for yoga, working with kids, and helping children reach their potential! 

 

Kaylee is a graduate student at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology working toward a Master’s in Counseling Psychology for Children and Adolescents. She also works at a yoga studio part-time and volunteers at Lurie’s Children’s Hospital. She believes both adults and children can benefit and evolve with a yoga practice, and she is excited to share that growth through Alpha Kids Shine! 

 

Dr. Nirja Parikh, PT, DPT

Dr. Nirja is a is a Children’s Yoga and Movement Instructor and a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher (200-RYT) with Alpha Kids Shine.  She is also a licensed physical therapist who received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University in 2015 and received the “Best Seminar Presentation” award for her research on collecting normative data for children ages 3-7 years old using the NeuroCom Smart Balance Master.  Her therapy experience includes working with children and their families in the home setting.  

 

Nirja also has a professional background in Ballet, Bollywood, and Bharatanatyam (Indian classical) dance, which allowed her to be a participant on two reality shows for her skills: Dance India Dance and Just Dance. Her next pursuit is to complete her yoga teacher training for children with special needs and to one day start her own business.

Jennifer Lee

Jen Lee is a Children’s Yoga and Mommy and Baby Yoga Instructor with Alpha Kids Shine. She has been teaching children and family yoga for over 6 years and is a mom to two beautiful girls who are 9 and 4. 

Jen is a graduate of Northern Arizona University where she graduated with a degree in International marketing, which led to a 15-year career in the advertising industry. Upon "retiring" from advertising, Jen decided to follow her passion for fitness and nutrition by teaching yoga and receiving her certification as a nutrition and wellness consultant. She is also currently working towards receiving her certification as a personal trainer, where she plans to focus on postpartum mothers. In Jen's free time - you will find her playing tennis, boxing, doing yoga - or attending one of her daughter's many after-school activities. Jen is very excited to join and grow with Alpha Kids Shine!

Sanda Hallman

Sandra is a Certified Educator of Infant Massage and Social-emotional consultant with Alpha Kids Shine.  She has a bachelor's and master's degree in child development and has been working with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers with special needs and their caregivers since 2000. Her areas of specialty include prematurity, attachment, behavior, emotional regulation and behavioral organization, and routines-based intervention.  

Sandra also has a private practice (Healthy Parenting Resources) providing families outside of Early Intervention with supports around challenges they experience in parenting.  She is NDT (Neurodevelopmental Treatment) and NIDCAP (Newborn Individualized Developmental Care and Assessment Program) trained. She is also certified in the NCAST Parent-Child Interaction Teaching Scales assessment tool. She has provided families with service coordination in Early Intervention and developmental therapy in a variety of settings, including home, school/day care, community environments, and hospital.

Mary Jo Day

Mary Jo focuses on the marketing and administration/operations of Alpha Kids Shine. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Counseling  from Ball State University. Mary Jo recently earned a certificate in Human Resources Management from Harper College.

 

She has a background as an operations specialist with 18 years of experience working with Fortune 500 Financial Services companies and experience in data and systems analysis.  She is excited to transition into the realm health and wellness to support children and their families. When she is not working, Mary Jo enjoys watching all kinds of sports especially college football and the Chicago Cubs.  She also enjoys spending time with family and friends.
